About the 50T4151

A unique model of GV3000 series drive, this 50T4151 drive is consider a member of a legacy series, as the original manufacturer Reliance Electric stopped production of this specific drive beginning in 2009. Since 2009, a number of trusted automation retailers such as ABB, Rockwell Automation, and Baldor Electric have taken over manufacturing of this drive with limited market success. With this being said, the unique model number and specifications inherent to this drive both assert it as a highly-sought-after and generally uncommon style of automated drive. Because of the legacy nature of this drive, it comes compatible with a 5.1 regulator version, outdated in terms of today's market. Here at AXcontrol, we recognize the fleeting nature of this GV3000 drive's availability, and offer both replacements and repairs for the 50T4151. Our standard lead time for repairs on most GV3000 series drives, including this one, is one to two weeks. All GV3000 series products refurbished or offered through AXcontrol come with a two-year guaranteed warranty.

Hardware Tips and Specifications

Modeled on a horsepower rating of fifty, the 50T4151 model is one of the AC power modules produced by Reliance Electric to operate on an input voltage of three hundred and eighty to four hundred and sixty volts of alternating current. With its dual-regulation system, This model can be selected for a vector or volts/hertz regulation depending on the setting that the user wants. The enclosure for this model will be vented and is known as a NEMA 1 enclosure. A mechanical motor overload protection output power wiring can be installed on the 50T4151. To ensure that the motor is protected from overload a motor thermostat is required internally and should be installed. Alternatively, an electronic thermal motor overload relay must be installed between the drive’s output terminals and the motor. If an electronic thermal motor overload relay the parameter for motor overload enable (P.040) can instead be used in singular motor applications. While the motor overload enable parameter can be used in some cases; it is best to note that to best thermally protect the motor, temperature measuring devices should be utilized.

A regulator board is one of the main components part of the 50T4151 model. There are several functions that are provided through the regulator board which includes form A and B contacts for the drive status indicators, a signal for snubber resistor braking, analog outputs, PWM (pulse-width modulation) gating signals to the IGBT power devices, and displaying data for a four-character display used for display errors, fault codes, and parameters with fourteen indicator LEDs.

Software Tips and Specifications

Alongside the important hardware specifications of the 50T4151 drive exist a separate set of equally-important software specifications. As a legacy series of automated drive, the 50T4151 may be prone to the occasional fault in machine function. Luckily for us, Reliance Electric was kind enough to supply the public with a convenient and publicly-available instructional software manual in the GV3000/SE AC Drive Software Reference, Version 6.06, which remains the most informative piece of literature on GV3000 drive programming.

One fault code that may affect owners of the 50T4151 drive is the motor overload fault; typically symbolized on the GV3000 series' built-in keypad display by the simple fault code OL. There are three different possible causes of the motor overload fault, including the presence of an excess motor current, the presence of an excessive motor load, or a loss of the drive's phase connection. Corrective action, when faced with the drive motor overload fault, involves checking the 50T4151 drive's power module sizing and output motor lines for correctness. If the cause of the fault is not discovered in either of these places, several checks will have to be conducted on various drive parameters. This is where the 50T4151 drive's dual-regulation system can come into play. If the drive is using vector regulation, the drive owner will need to check the parameter for actual/Motor Rated Nameplate Amps. If the drive is being regulated with V/Hz regulation, however, the drive administrator will have to check the parameter for actual current and torque boost when faced with the OL fault. For a more in-depth description of the motor overload drive fault and for more drive programming information, please refer to the aforementioned Reliance Electric GV3000/SE AC Drive Software Reference, Version 6.06, available here at AXcontrol.com.

Compatibilities

While this drive's 5.1 regulator version doesn't support the 6.0-version regulator boards that have become a staple of the automated drive industry, we remain happy to stock a number of printed circuit regulator boards that can be used in conjunction with this product. A few 5.1 regulator board options we like to keep in stock here at AXcontrol for your convenience include:

Before making any purchase of a regulator board for usage alongside your 50T4151 model drive, please double-check to ensure that the horsepower and voltage ratings of each component are compatible for optimal drive efficiency.
