Product Description

The IS215UCVDH2AK is a component made by GE for the Mark VI system. The Mark VI is a management platform for steam or gas turbines released by GE as part of the Speedtronic line.  The Mark VI has both general purpose I/Os and application specific I/Os. Included in this list are inputs from passive magnetic sensors that monitor speed pulse rates, manual and automatic synchronizing inputs, inputs that monitor shaft voltage for the build-up of shaft-to-ground voltage across oil film of bearings, and a trip command input for turbines that do not have a mechanical overspeed bolt.

The IS215UCVDH2AK is a controller for the Mark VI system.  There are five versions of this component, and the UCVD is one of the older versions.  The controller has software loaded to the component that is specific to its use. It is possible to modify application software online without restarting.   The board runs on a QNX operating system, which is a microkernel-based OS designed for high-reliability, high-speed applications.

The IS215UCVDH2AK is built with a front panel attached to the two circuit boards that make up the component.  The faceplate has multiple connectors, including a reset switch, a UDH Ethernet port, a monitor port, two COM ports, a hard disk connector, two ISBus LAN ports, a Genius cable plug, two ports for mouse/keyboard connections, and a reset switch.  The faceplate also has two sets of LED indicators. One set of these indicators is used for runtime error codes and the other is uses for communication status and controller status.

The two PCBs that make up the IS215UCVDH2AK are connected via screws and standoffs.  Each board is populated by various components including integrated circuits, resistors, capacitors, and board connectors.  One board has a backplane connector.
