The 45C978 unit uses EPROM memory. There are two other memory modules in the Shark XL series, the 45C975 EEPROM memory module and the 45C977 EEPROM memory module. The difference between EPROM memory and EEPROM memory is that EPROM memory is erased using UV light and EEPROM memory is erased using electrical signals.
