The 78090-51R model is a DC contactor that was created and manufactured by Reliance Electric. Reliance Electric, however, has since discontinued the 78090-51R contactor from their stock. This means that the 78090-51R contactor is no longer available from them new and they no longer offer repairs for this particular item. However, AX Control offers both of those services. The 78090-51R DC contactor can be supplied with a maximum of four auxiliary contact blocks with two on each side. The contactors can be N.C., N.O., or a combination of those two. However, there are special optional kits that can be installed onto the 78090-51R DC contactor, such as the side mounting kit, using various forms of field installation methods.

The 78090-51R contactor is operated using a solenoid, which in turn provides a consistently high-speed processes and a long life span to the contactor. This makes the contactor ideal for being a main line, accelerating, or reversing contactor. The 78090-51R contactor has terminals in prime locations that make the contactor perfect for both straight-through wiring as well as for wire channel layouts. These terminals are positioned in the front of the 78090-51R contactor and are pressure-type terminals, as is typical for DC contactors.

The 78090-51R contactor is a smaller and more light weight of the Reliance Electric contactors. It has an approximate weight of 1.22 lbs. or 0.55 kg.
