Product Description

This model is located in an auxiliary cabinet and has a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) de-excitation mode. In the SCR de-excitation module, the SCR is fired when a conduction path is needed, once the SCR has been fired it will make a path through the field discharge inductor and will allow the field current to flux and disperse the field energy. If for any reason the SCR is not able to be fired then it will fire on overvoltage, firing on overvoltage will occur when the anode to gate voltage surpasses the break overvoltage of the break-over diode string which is connected between the gate and anode functions.

The GEH-6632 EX2100 Excitation Control User’s Guide is the best manual to use for information on the installation and function of the IS200EDEXG1B model.

Frequently Asked Questions about IS200EDEXG1B

How does the IS200EDEXG1B board work?

The EDEX board is connected to a number of boards, one of them being the EMIO board, which will initiate de-excitation. The attached EXTB board will open the 41 DC breakers and transfer de-excitation signals from the auxiliary contacts to SCR firing circuits within the EDEX board.

Where does the power needed to supply the IS200EDEXG1B module come from?

The power supply of the IS200EDEXG1B module comes from the EPSM module.

What is the primary function of the IS200EDEXG1B module?

The primary function of the IS200EDEXG1B board is to dissipate the stored energy of the generator field inductance.

The IS200EDEXG1A board has Hall effect conduction sensors. Does the IS200EDEXG1B board also have Hall effect conduction sensors?

Yes the IS200EDEXG1B board also has Hall effect conduction sensors, which are mounted in the air gap of a circular steel core.
