This Woodward device is a part of the subsection of control and synchronizer models that are listed as the MSLC units. These are the Master Synchronizer and Load Control units developed by Woodward Inc. These MSLC units are designed to operate within three phase, electric power generation sites that are equipped with a Digital Synchronizer and Load Control module. The Master series of units were designed as a multifunctional unit; a synchronizer, a utility load sensor, an import and export load level control module, a power factor control module, as well as a master process control module. This MSLC unit is listed under the designation of 9907-004. The 9907-004 unit is outfitted with a wye PT configuration, and is outfitted with a voltage sensing input average of either 120 or 240 volts of alternating current. This input voltage is processed over several sets of terminals. When the average is 120 (65 - 150 V/AC), the terminals used are 4 - 5, 7 - 12, 9 - 12, and 11 - 12. When the input average is 240 (150 - 300 V/AC), the terminals used are 3 - 5, 6 - 12, 8 - 12, and 10 - 12. The 9907-004 unit is outfitted with the abilities for phase matching, as well as slip frequency automatic synchronization of the local plant bus in order to match the power grid. It is not only able to control the kilowatt loading on its utility tie, but is able to match the plant voltage, prior to paralleling.
