Product Description

The G310C210 operator interface is the first operator interface terminal in the G310C2 group of models. The G310C210 model is enhanced with a USB host and isolated comms, and a 10.4" TFT VGA touchscreen and display. This model can only be used in indoor applications and has a resistive analog touchscreen interface, and can be used with gloved hands once the operator interface has been fully initialized when using the screen, as it is evident that a touch to an active touchscreen cell has been detected when a distinct beep is produced. On the left side of the module, there is a keypad with eight keys that helps with on-screen menus, which are fully programmable except for one key designated as the Menu key. 

A CompactFlash card can be used with this model and helps maximize the amount of memory. The card types available used with this model are either Type I or II cards, with the lowest amount of megabytes available being four and the largest amount being two gigabytes. Please note that the card should not be inserted into the G310C210 module while power is being applied doing so can cause potential damage to not only the module but the card. To access the information accumulated on the card, the CompactFlash card should be inserted into a card reader attached to a PC. Several brands of CompactFlash cards are best suited for operating with Red Lion products, such as SanDisk, swissbit, SMART Modular, SimpleTech, and Silicon Systems cards. 

If you would like to establish an Ethernet communication with this model, it can be done through either 100 Base-TX or 10 Base-T ports, and the associated jack, which is an RJ45 jack, must be wired as a Network Interface Card (NIC).

What does the G310C210 terminal do?

The G310C210 terminal is used to communicate with different types of hardware using high-speed RS232/422/485 communication powers and Ethernet 10 Base T/1000 Base-TX communications. The terminal can also complete fast downloads of configuration files and access the data and trending logs with its USB host.

There are two G310C2 HMIs. How does this model, the G310C210 terminal, differ from the G310C230 terminal?

The main difference is the features. The G310C230 is superior to the G310C210 only because it has dual ethernet. Both models have isolated comms and a USB host feature. The models both have the same screen type, which is a 10.4" TFT 32K-color touchscreen only rated for indoor applications. Because the G310C210 model is only rated for indoor applications it would be recommended that a G310S model be purchased if wishing to use the panel in an outdoor application, the S in the part number indicates that the touchscreen is sunlight readable. If the LED backlight goes out on my G310C210 operator interface terminal, can I replace it myself, or do I need to send it out?

So long as you are operating the G310C210 terminal in a non-hazardous location, you can replace the LED backlight yourself. You will know that the LED backlight has gone out when the brightness of the backlight has significantly dimmed, which is a downside of owning the G310C210 panel as the touchscreen will often go out.
