Product Description

The G308A210 model which was produced by Red Lion is equipped with an 8.4” TFT Display, USB host, and isolated comms. This model has a CompactFlash socket which helps increase the memory capacity of this operator interface. The CompactFlash card will hold a variety of data and all of the data can be accessed through the USB device port, but a driver should be installed to ensure proper operation. The CompactFlash on this model can also program one of the G3 Series HMIs by placing the chosen firmware and files on the CompactFlash card. 

During the operation of the G308A210 interface if the battery fails it can be replaced. To do so power must be completely removed from the unit as well as the cabling, and the back cover of the unit. The back cover will be removed after the screws are removed, to remove the back cover life the top side and provide clearance for the connectors which are on the bottom side of the PCB. Carefully remove the old battery and replace it with the new battery. Once power, all cabling, and the back cover have been reapplied use the Crimson software to input the correct date and time. 

A special feature of this model is its ability to have an option card attached. Before installing the option card on the G308A210 ensure that all power needed to work the unit is completely disbanded, the rear cover on this model should have also been removed. Connect the attached cable on the option card to the connector on the primary board use the screws to properly mount the option card and then replace the rear cover. It should be noted that sometimes after purchasing the G308A210 model an expansion card will be found in the model but the customer does not find that card until removing the back cover.

What is the difference between the standard G308A00 and the G308A210 panel?

The main differences between this panel and the previous G308A panel are the different features which are isolated comms and a USB host. These features are the only noticeable difference between the panels as they are both 8.4" TFT display screens and can only be used in indoor applications. The G308A00 is slightly more advanced than the G308A210 because the G308A000 panel can handle three different CompactFlash card types, whereas the G308A210 panel can only be used with one specific CompactFlash card. 

The G308A210 is considered part of the G3098C1 section of the G308 HMIs how does the G308A210 panel differ from the G308C1 panels?

The G308A210 differs from the G308C1 panels through the power supply rating; while both panels operate at 24 VDC, the power wattage is where the two panels differ. The power wattage for the G308A210 panel is rated at 33 watts, with the wattage on the G308C1 panels being 13 watts. The power supplies that must be used with the G308A210 panel are NEC Class 2, a SELV, or a Limited Power Source rating; these different ratings are critical to the operation as it helps isolate the panel from hazardous voltages.

One of the excellent features of the G308A210 operator interface terminal is that it has seven programmable keys. One of the keys on the panel is a dedicated menu key, with the remaining six being completely programmable.
