About the 8055-SCP-655

The 8055-SCP-655 module was designed and mass-produced by Square D and is part of the SY/MAX series. The module is classified as a processor module with an ethernet port. The module has 26K RAM of memory and 650 Watts of power capabilities. The main differences between each SY/MAX 8050-SCP-XXX ethernet processor modules are the amount of RAM and power capabilities within each device.

The 8055-SCP-655 module is rectangular with black sides and a white faceplate. The faceplate has eight indicator lights, which read as follows from top to bottom:  “RUN,” “HALT,” “MEMORY,” “FORCE,” “I/O,” “BATTERY LOW,” “WRITE PROTECT,” and lastly “ETHERNET COMM ERROR.” Below this grouping of lights is a small battery door secured by a small screw. There is black text on the door that reads, “BATTERY INSTALLED DATE,” with a label underneath meant for writing on the day the battery is installed. Below that, there is a place to insert and turn a small key. This slot has four positions that can be activated using the key, and these read as follows from left to right: “DISABLE OUTPUTS,” “HALT,” “RUN,” “RUN PROGRAM.” “HALT” is the module’s default position. Below this key input slot is a small port with black text next to it which is labeled, “PRGMR CHNL 1.” Below that are two labels which read, “ETHERNET DROP,” and “COMM CHNL 2.” Both of these labels have black arrows underneath them that are pointing downward, indicating that these ports are on the bottom of the device.

The two categories of errors that can happen when using an 8055 module are the Programmable Controller System Operational Errors (which are caused by an illegal operation attempt with the model or by the internal communication hardware malfunctioning) and the Peripheral to Programmable Controller System Errors (any error that is displayed inside the model itself or in any other part of the programmable controller modules). These errors are displayed using a code on the programmer’s display screen.

The 8055-SCP-655 module has an approximate weight of 5.42 lbs. or 2.46 kg.
