About the 8055-SCP-452

The 8055-SCP-452 module is a processor module that has 450 Watts of power capabilities and an Ethernet port. The 8055-SCP-452 module has 4K RAM of memory. The 8055-SCP-452 module was produced by Square D and is a part of the SY/MAX series. The differences between this module and other SY/MAX processor modules with Ethernet ports are the power and RAM capabilities.

The 8055-SCP-452 module has a rectangular shape, with black sides and a white faceplate.  On the faceplate, there is a small grouping of eight indicator lights. The indicator lights are labeled as follows from top to bottom: “RUN,” “HALT,” “MEMORY,” “FORCE,” “I/O,” “BATTERY LOW,” “WRITE PROTECT,” and “ETHERNET COMM ERROR.”

Just below this group of indicator lights, there is a small door secured by a screw with the module’s battery on the inside. This door has text on it that reads, “BATTERY INSTALLED DATE,” and there is a label underneath with the aforementioned date. Below the battery door, there is a slot to insert a key. The key’s default position is “HALT.” Turn the key to the left from the “HALT” position to reach the “DISABLE OUTPUTS” position. Turn the key to the right from the “HALT” position to reach the “RUN” position and to the right again to reach the “RUN PROGRAM.”

Below the key slot is a small I/O port that is labeled as “PRGMR CHNL 1.” Below this port are two labels, “ETHERNET DROP,” and “COMM CHNL 2,” and both of these labels have black arrows pointing down, indicating that these are on the bottom of the 8055-SCP-452 module.

There are two types of errors that can occur in the 8055 modules: Peripheral to Programmable Controller System Errors and Programmable Controller System Operational Errors. Peripheral to Programmable Controller Interaction Errors will be triggered by an attempt at an illegal operation with the module or by a piece of malfunctioning communication hardware. Programmable Controller System Operational Errors, on the other hand, are triggered when errors are detected within the module itself or within any module in the entire programmable controller system.

The 8055-SCP-452 module weighs about 5.20 lbs. or 2.36 kg.
