Product Description

1SU24001 is either a 1-phase or 3-phase SP500 drive and is manufactured by Reliance Electric. Regardless, the drive is enclosed in a size A 4X/12 enclosure (NEMA). The enclosure is water-tight and dust-tight, which is ideal for indoor environments. A base and keypad gaskets are supplied with the enclosure, which is not vented. The power loss is 70 watts and the AC input is 200-230 volts. The 3-phase version of this drive is either a 4, 6, or 8 kHz carrier.

Input power is directed through terminals R, S, and T, with a recommended wire size of 14 AWG. Output power is directed through terminals U, V, and W, with a recommended wire size of 14 AWG. DB power is directed through the (-) and (+) terminals, with a recommended wire size of 14 AWG. DB control is directed through terminals 12 and 13 on the terminal strip, with a recommended wire size of 14-22 AWG. Function loss is directed through terminals 10 and 11 on the terminal strip, with a recommended wire size of 14-22 AWG. The GND terminal is wired through the GND stud via 14 AWG wire.

Power wiring first requires verifying that the input power to the controller corresponds to the controller nameplate voltage and frequency. Also, the plant supply must be of sufficient capacity to support the input current requirements of the controller. The user must provide a transformer between the plant power supply and the controller if the correct input line voltage is not available. Using table 3-1 or 3-2, size upstream branch circuit protection (fuses) accordingly. Then size the input and output power wiring to handle the controller’s rated maximum current. Use 60/75° copper wire and use the tightening torque 9 to 12 in-lbs for all wire connections to input and output terminals. Wire the power input leads and route the motor leads through the bottom right opening of the controller base to terminals U, V, and W. Caution: do not route signal wiring with power wiring in the same conduit.

Frequently Asked Questions about 1SU24001

What phase is the 1SU24001 drive?
The SP500 1SU24001 drive is a 3 phase, 1 HP drive. When operating on a 4kHz carrier, the 1SU24001 drive should have a power rating of 19.1 input amps, 4.4 input KVA, and 7.5 output amps. When operating on a 6kHz carrier, the 1SU24001 drive should have 17.2 input amps, 4.0 input KVA, and 7.0 output amps. When operating on a 8kHz carrier, the 1SU24001 drive should have 15.3 input amps, 3.5 input KVA, and 6.5 output amps.
Does AX Control have both new and used 1SU24001 drives?
AX Control stocks both new surplus and remanufactured or reconditioned 1SU24001 drives. We are able to purchase unused drives from factory stock shelves for our new surplus supply and we take used 1SU24001 drives and refurbish or recondition them as reconditioned 1SU24001 inventory supply. You can purchase a SP500 1SU24001 drive from AX Control as new or you can purchase a reconditioned 1SU24001 drive. There will not be much difference in the new versus reconditioned 1SU24001 drives as the reconditioned drives have been repaired to meet full functionality. We find it best that we offer both a new surplus option as well as a remanufactured option with a reconditioned SP500 drive often being more affordable for the customer.
What does the NEMA 4X enclosure mean on the 1SU24001 drive?
The NEMA 4X (Indoor Only)/NEMA 12 enclosure rating on the SP500 1SU24001 drive means that it is meant for use in indoor environments that require a water-tight and dust-tight enclosure because it is an unvented drive. The 1SU24001 drive encompasses both the 4X enclosure rating and the 12 enclosure rating. The difference between these enclosures and the NEMA 1 enclosure is that the 1SU24001 drive with a NEMA 4X/12 rating is not vented while SP500 drives with NEMA 1 enclosures are vented.
How do I adjust a parameter on my 1SU24001 SP500 drive?
The SP500 installation and operation manual provides a detailed list of all parameters on SP500 drives. The SP500 drive manual goes through how to display and adjust parameter values, how to ensure program security on parameter values, and it provides complete descriptions of each parameter number. On the 1SU24001 drive, there are parameters F-00 through F-29. There is also parameter F-49 on all SP500 drives which will display the software version on your 1SU24001 drive. AX Control is happy to send you a link to the manual or we can send you a physical copy of the SP500 manual upon request with the purchase of any drive.
What does the fault code LU mean on the 1SU24001 drive?
The fault code LU stands for low bus voltage on the SP500 1SU24001 drive. Low bus voltage is a common fault code error seen on 1SU24001 drives and the fault can sometimes result from a momentary power dip or loss. The LU fault code on the 1SU24001 drive is an auto-restartable fault, which means if this fault occurs, the fault can auto-restart and correct itself. In order to adjust the number of auto-restart attempts on any fault, you need to edit the F-26 parameter. Other auto-restartable faults are listed in the SP500 manual which AX Control can happily provide for you.
Where can I find an instruction manual for my 1SU24001 drive?
AX Control is happy to send you a link to the SP500 installation and operation manual. The manual includes both installation instructions to help you install your 1SU24001 drive as well as provides you with a detailed list of parameters. The manual will match your specific 1SU24001 drive up with the correct measures throughout each step of the installation process. Although the manual isn't specific to only the 1SU24001 drive, you can see specificities that apply only to the SP500 1SU24001 drive.
What does the UL Listed, IEC Certified labeling on the 1SU24001 drive mean?
UL Listed, IEC Certified means that your 1SU24001 drive meets NEC/CEC requirements. The "U" located after "1S" in your 1SU24001 drive number indicated the UL Listed labeling. To identify your drive's model number of 1SU24001 entirely, you can view the SP500 installation and operation manual where you will find a section dedicated to breaking down your model number to better identify it. The SP500 installation and operation manual identifies the drive's model number with a breakdown of: basic catalog number, labeling, voltage, enclosure, and horsepower rating.
