The 45C988 device is a remote master module that Reliance Electric designed to be a part of the Shark XL series. The 45C988 remote master module is usually available in our stock even though it has had its production halted by the original manufacturer. The 45C988 remote master module is designed to be used in conjunction with the 45C989 remote target module to allow I/O to be installed inside of remote racks without the use of processor units. Therefore, you will need to have one 45C988 remote master module when you are using a remote I/O network. At the top of the 45C988 remote master module’s faceplate, you will see a status LED that is labeled with “RUN.” When the “RUN” LED is illuminated, then it is indicating that the 45C988 remote master module is properly configured and is operating as intended. Below the status LED, there is a series of terminals that were designed to have remote I/O communication wires connected with them. All of these terminals are individually labeled to indicate their intended uses.
For this module, the remote I/O refresh rate will be 5 milliseconds and the maximum number of I/O for every remote network is 128. The cable for the remote I/O can reach up to 300 meters or 1000 feet.
