86474-R Thyristor Assembly
The 86474-R is a Reliance Thyristor Assembly. It was marketed from Reliance under several company names. This includes Reliance Electric, Baldor-Reliance, and ABB. The is available from AX Control as a liquidated surplus (new-used) part as well as a reconditioned unit that undergone our inspection process.
The 86474-R is built from several components, including two large heat sink components that are bolted together at their midpoint. The bolt connection leaves an air gap between the two heat sinks; within this air gap, several components have been mounted, including SCR diodes and metal oxide varistors. Wires connect these module components to other components that have been screw mounted to the top surface of each heat sink, including a Sprague Vitamin Q capacitor and a small circuit board notated as 0-51378-2. This board is populated with a transformer in a frame, two sets of stab-on connectors, and a resistor. The capacitor has two screw mounts to allow for the connection of wires. There is also a screw mount located on either side of the capacitor in the top surface of the heat sink for additional wire terminations.
