86466-74RG Thyristor Stack
The 86466-74RG is a Reliance Electric drive component. This component functions as a thyristor stack and is used in several of Reliance’s drives. It is available through AX Control as a reconditioned unit as well as a new never-used part from liquidated stock. Reliance products were marketed under several manufacturing names, including Asea Brown Boveri, Reliance, and Baldor-Reliance.
The 86466-74RG is built from a central metal carrier that connects to a top horizontal bar. This bar is populated with two Bussman aR 800 Amp fuses. These RAPIDPLUS aR fuse links are designed to clear short circuits and have reduced arc values as well as very low I2t values. Below this bar, on the top surface of each heat sink, the unit has two small circuit boards that are each populated with a transformer, terminal pins, resistors, and diodes. Each set of terminal pins connect to a wired female connector that leads back to an SCR diode mounted on the surface of the central metal carrier.
The bottom of the 86466-74RG is a flat-bottomed hollow base that has power resistors, capacitors, and other components mounted inside it. This base helps stabilize the entire unit.
