78177-3RD Thyristor assembly Right hand 75 HP 240 Volt
The 78177-3RD is a Right-hand thyristor assembly for use within Reliance Electric drive systems. This component is available through AX Control as liquidated (new never used) surplus as well as rebuilt units that have been thoroughly inspected and tested by our in-house technicians. The 78177-3RD was also distributed under the company names Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri.
The 78177-3RD has a single circuit board component bolted across the top of both heat sinks used in the assembly. This circuit board is populated by a single wire-wound resistor and one capacitor. These are wired to other components located elsewhere in the assembly. The heat sinks are bolted together across a narrow air gap. Within this air gap, SCR diodes and MOVs are mounted to the interior walls of the heat sinks; the MOVs provide surge suppressor protection to the unit. A selenium rectifier is connected to the side of one of the heat sinks, bolted to two armatures and connected to the rest of the unit via two toothed wires. The bottom of one heat sink is a flat edge, while the other is a curved flange with two factory-made holes and a bolt to allow for mounting.
