Product Description

Originally from Reliance Electric (known as Asea Brown Boveri at one time), the 78177-3RC Is a Thyristor Assembly rectifier stack. In general terms, thyristors are used to provide semiconductor properties and to perform functions their electromechanical counterparts are unable to fulfill. While this part is no longer produced by the original equipment manufacturer, it can be sourced from us here at AX Control. The 78177-3RC is used as a Phase Rectifier Module. Modules like this one are used to turn incoming AC current into one-way DC (direct) current. This allows the current to be more easily controlled. This is most often used as part of a three-phase high power application. The thyristor is designed as a copper/selenium oxide stack combined with a small circuit board attached at the very top of the stack. This circuit board includes capacitors and wired connectors.
