The 8C15 is a Reliance Electric ImPak Plus drive. The Impak Plus is one of Reliance’s small electrical variable speed drives similar to the company’s MinPak and FlexPak plus series.
The 8C15 is a 1.5 horsepower drive. The unit is rated with a 230 VAC input, 10.5 max amps 50/60 Hz, 180 VDC output 7.5 max amps.
The interior of drives like this Impak Plus drive are all designed in similar ways. These drives typically have an armature terminal (this can be seen as the on/off toggle switch on the front faceplate of the Impak plus drive) that is located near the top of the drive. Inside, behind this armature, the until has incoming line terminals, control fuses, motor field terminals, as well as field supply assembly and field supply fuses. The unit will typically also have several current transformers, a phase rectifier assembly, a low voltage control transformer, and a chassis ground stud. The bottom of the unit typically is built with a fan assembly to help move air through the unit to maintain its proper operating temperature.
