Product Description

The B18J1070 is a 3HP Explosion Proof Motor. This motor was originally made by Reliance Electric for its HR2000 series. It may have also been sold by ABB and/or Baldor Reliance. This motor is a legacy series and might be a little hard to find now. Please contact AX Control directly for more information about the B18J1070.

The B18J1070 comes in an optional XPFC type enclosure. This enclosure is specifically designed to function in an environment where there is vapor or gas that has the possibility of igniting.  More specifically, the B18J1070 has the ability to be in class 1 Group D types of environments. This means that is able to be in environments that do contain certain flammable materials/gases. This motor can be around substances like natural gas, methanol, gasoline, ammonia, acetone, and propane without exploding. If there is an explosion within the B18J1070, it is built to withstand and contain it to prevent the flammable gases surrounding it from also igniting. The minimum igniting current ratio for this motor is >0.8. This enclosure does make the B18J1070 a little bulkier than some of the other motors and it does require a heavy conduit and seals. It does, however, offer a higher degree of safety and it operates at normal power levels.
