About the 14C56U

14C56U is a standard D-C controller that is part of the FlexPak Plus series manufactured by reliance electric.

When planning signal or control wire runs, conduits must be steel and must cross 440 VAC conductors at 90°. Do not route signal wires through junctions or terminal boxes that contain non-signal A-C or D-C (115/230/460 V) wires. This controller does not operate at top horsepower above 3300 ft elevation. User must derate the horsepower 3% for each 1000 ft above 3300 ft.

The maximum horsepower for this controller is 1.5 hp and the maximum AC (RMS) is 10.5 amperes. The field supply ampere max is 3.0 and the power supply capacity is 5000. The D-C armature averages 2.5-7.5 amperes. The transformer of 14C56U has a maximum kVA per phase of 40 and a maximum full-load kVA of 3.0.

Auto-transformers do not isolate the drive system from the A-C line. Users should consider using an isolation transformer if the application conditions warrant it. Personal injury is guarded against by an isolation transformer should accidental contact be made with an electrical conductor from the drive.

When installing the chassis, mount vertically and leave at least 2 inches of clearance between controllers. Also, leave at least 8 in (200 mm) from the top or 6 in (150 mm) from the bottom of the enclosure. Remember that heat builds up at the top of the cabinet. At the bottom of the cabinet, the controller must be high enough to allow for proper air flow upwards.
