Product Description

The Reliance Electric DC2-82U is a continuous duty DC motor controller, compatible with Reliance DC motors. This single phase controller converts AC power into adjustable DC power. This conversion allows for better speed and torque control. A reconnectable AC power line offers dual supported input voltages, allowing for various horsepower outputs. By inputting 115 Volts, a 1.0 horsepower is available while inputting 230 Volts produces 2.0 horsepower. 115 VAC outputs 90 VDC, while 230VAC outputs 180 VDC.

A number of integrated systems improve on the functionality of the controller. Armature form factor is improved by a full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier and an included back diode. Unidirectional operation is also included with a coast-to-rest stop feature. Shunt wound DC motors have a usable supply that is created from a half-wave field. Motor overload is prevented with an integrated internal thermostat. User interface is further improved with a remote start, stop, run, and jog feature.

DC2-82U offers added process controls, embedding a number of speed control functions in the controller. An isolated process control interface offers both manual and automatic mode via a selector switch. Adjustments to motor speed in manual mode are performed by the potentiometer. Automatic mode adjustments, on the other hand, are performed by a process control output signal. The operator can independently adjust current limits and separately adjust the minimum and maximum speeds. A motor mounted DC tachometer offers motor speed adjustments on DC2-82U. An armature voltage regulation system also allows for speed control functionality of the controller.

Protected by a NEMA 4/4X/12 enclosure, the controller is suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage. The more substantial enclosure of the NEMA 4/4X/12 allows for the drive to be stored in much harsher conditions, including rain, snow, and heavy winds.
