About the DC1-50U

DC1-50U is designed as a speed control DC1 drive controller by Reliance Electric. Controller specifications can be determined by the horsepower of the associated motor. A 115 volt A-C input controller with a horsepower of 1 HP has a rated A-C line of 12.5 amperes and an input of 1.4 KVA. The D-C armature voltage is 90 volts, the rated armature current is 5.0 amperes, the available field voltage is 50 volts, and the available field current is 2.0 amperes. A 230 volt A-C input controller with a horsepower of 2 HP has a rated A-C line of 12.5 amperes and an input of 2.9 KVA. The D-C armature voltage is 180 volts, the rated armature current is 10.0 amperes, the available field voltage is 100 volts, and the available field current is 2.0 amperes. The transformer KVA for a motor horsepower of 1 HP is 2.00 KVA. The transformer KVA for a motor horsepower of 2 HP is 5.00 KVA.

Wiring the drive requires user conformity to the NEC, CEC, and all other applicable local codes with respect to wiring practices, grounding, disconnect, and overcurrent protection. Failure to observe this precaution could result in severe bodily injury or loss of life. In order to wire the drive, the convenience ground provided at the bottom edge of the heatsink must be located. Run a suitable equipment grounding conductor unbroken from this controller ground point to the plant ground (grounding electrode). At the ground point, it is recommended that the user implement a ring lug. Further instructions on grounding the drive may be found in the user manual.
