About the 59005-5
The 59005-5 is a board component manufactured by Reliance Electric as part of an Automax module. The Automax DCS (distributed control system) is a programmable, microprocessor-based, real-time control system used in many industrial and process control applications. Many of these systems are designed using racks and modules connected through a communication network, typically using AutoMax run-time executive software, but sometimes running processes programmed by the user using BASIC, ladder logic or control block programs.
The 59005-5 is a network printed circuit board. This board is used in several AutoMax Remote I/O Head modules. The 59005-5 card is a network adapter that enables the module to connect to a master on the network. Within an AutoMax Remote I/O network, there can be a maximum of seven slave drops on a network. Drops connect using coaxial cable or via fiber-optic cable if noise immunity and electrical isolation are required. The thumbwheel on the front faceplate is used to set the Remote I/O network drop number. This number is between 1 through 7. Drop numbers are used to uniquely identify every rack on the Remote I/O network. Maximum cable length when using coaxial cable is 3000 feet; maximum when using fiber-optic is 6,000 feet.
