The PFXPP170CA21C04N00 from Pro-face Xycom is one of the company’s PS4000 series Industrial personal computers.  This unit has been ruggedized to handle the more challenging environments of the factory floor and will withstand the vibration and noise of these areas better than a commercial PC.  

The PFXPP170CA21C04N00 is one of the company’s PS4700 units, which includes a 15-inch XGA display with an aluminum bezel.   The unit runs on an AC power supply and is supplied with an AC terminal block (located at the rear of the unit).   This particular model is built using an Intel Core2 Duo central processing unit (CPU).  This is a duo core CPU running at 2.26 GHz.  It has a 3 MB L2 Cache and a 64-bit instruction set.  This particular unit has 2GB of RAM and has been built out with a Windows 2009 Embedded OS. 

The unit does not have a slide-in slot available, but it doesn't include a 4 GB CF card as well as a COM expansion board.  The expansion board is a serial interface board with a combined RS-232C/RS-422/RS-485 interface, using a D-SuB 9 pin connector.  Pin assignments for this plug connector are available within associated Pro-face manuals and user guides.   When using the RS-422, the connection has a max transfer rate of 115kBits/s.  This is dependent upon the type of cable used.
