About the 8903/M1

The 8903/M1 is a Sin/Cos Registration Option card from the AC890 series. This card was manufactured by Parker and SSD Drives.This card can be fitted into the Option A slot on the AC890 Drive. There are alternative part numbers that the card may be under: 8903-M1-00-00 or 8903-M1-00-FF. 

The 8903/M1 allows for Sin/Cos encoders to connect directly to the drive to give speed feedback measurement and registration. The 8903/M1 has an adjustable supply of either 5V or 10V that is for the encoder. 

This card has four auxiliary digital inputs that are optically isolated. These inputs can be used in two different ways:

  • General purpose inputs 
  • Inputs for registration mark sensors

The 8903/M1 also has three non-isolated auxiliary digital outputs. These can be used as general purpose outputs or to synthesize an encoder output. 

Like the 8902/M1, the 8903/M1 can be used to decode Heidenhain Endat 2.1 absolute position Encoders. The card also decodes logic to interface the encoder to the microprocessor.
