About the 8903/EP

The 8903/EP is an Encoder Option that provides an incremental encoder input and an incremental encoder output. This option is for the AC890 series from Parker and SSD Drives. The 8903/EP is very similar to the 8903/AI, but the EP does not have the additional analogue input. 

The 8903/EP has important features to highlight. These include:

  • Incremental encoder input with optically isolated differential inputs on channel A, B, and Z
  • Input channels compatible with RS422/RS485 encoders 
  • Input channels compatible with encoders that provide output voltages as high as +/- 30V
  • Three non-isolated differential digital outputs used for synthesizing an encoder output 

The 8903/EP is also compatible with Version 2.5 onward and Version 3.5 onward 890 firmware, which provides more flexibility. The option can be used in both Standalone Drives and Common Bus Drives.

The 8903/EP can fit into either the Option A or Option B slot, unless it has been factory fitted. If factory fitted, the option will go in slot B.

The 8903/EP is a helpful option that allows for an incremental encoder input and output for the drive it is connected to. The option can fit in either the Option A or Option B slot, allowing for greater flexibility if using another option.
