The KV-8EX is a compact PLC offered by Keyence. The KV-8EX has eight inputs and zero outputs. with a twenty-four VDC input rating and requires seven (7) mA for current consumption. Other specs include:
- a thirty (30) VDC transistor.
- a five (5) A peak load
- a two-hundred and fifty (250) VAC / Thirty (30) VDC relay
The KV-8EX can be programmed with a mouse or keyboard to allow efficient and accurate code entry. It is a small PLC with five (5) screw-in ports along the top that are labeled in purple reading C1 zero through three (C1 0-3). Along the bottom, there is also five (5) screw-in ports also labeled in purple. The ports are labeled C2 four through seven (C2 4-7). Each port has a corresponding LED light on the face-plate.
The KV-8EX uses an RS-232C communication format. The unit is also Window's Ladder Builder compatible. The KV-8EX eliminates the need for a battery backup with the program stored in the EEPROM. This PLC also has a built-in one (1) ms timer. The KV-8EX also has a memory capacity of up to three-thousand (3,000) steps. This PLC does not offer an option for relay replacement. For quick and easy installation the KV-8EX has a grey colored wiring harness on the left side of the device.
