HE693OIU057D-24 is an Operator Interface Unit from the HE69OIU series by Horner. This device is to be used in conjunction with PLCs to provide real-time operational critical information for the user. The design of the Operator Interface Unit is especially compatible with GE Series 90 PLCs. Key uses for the OIM include monitoring or changing machine setpoints and other data, replacing up to 12 hard-wired push-buttons, announcing machine alarm conditions from the PLC, alerting the user of machine operation sequences, and logging machine alarms and other data. This model is a later revision of the HE693OIU057. Newer models have changes such as firmware updates and hardware updates, as well as different versions of the internal software “OIUCFG.EXE.” Additional features provided by this newer revision include but are not limited to SNP Pass Through, eight user definable characters, message chaining, and keypad masking (which allows a user to disable certain keys).

The primary method by which information is displayed by the OIM is via a 2 x 16 LCD display. By default, the OIM is programmed to organize information into “screens” of 32 characters each. The OIM has the capability of maintaining up to 250 monitoring screens at any time. With the ability to display 4 data fields on one screen, the OIM can monitor and cycle through 1000 different PLC data registers.
