About the SPM

The SPM Synchronous Motor Protection & Control's SPM product is named as such as it is the base model available for this particular product series. The primary intended function of this basic SPM device involves the start-up, synchronization, and protection functions for both collector-ring and brushless styles of synchronous motor units. To be more specific, some of the protection options offered by the base SPM unit would include:

• cage winding (start-up)
• stall prevention (start-up)
• DC field current trip loss protection
• auto resynchronization
• a Lockout feature for incomplete starts
• am incomplete sequence tripping
• programmed acceleration time adjustment
• overtemperature protections

SPM Standard Starting and Protection Relay Hardware

While this standard starting and protection relay may be just that, missing some of the bells and whistles of revised SPM Series offerings, it is still a robust product encased in a quality chassis. Some of the hardware elements critical to its function include its:

• optional power factor regulator
• five adjustable setpoints
• backlit LCD display
• keypad interface
• S1 drawout case (compact)
