Product Description

This unit listed here is a component part belonging to the GE Multilin lineup of devices. It is a module to be integrated into the MM300 series. The MM300 models are outfitted with several flexible applications for low-voltage motors, and is able to provide an advanced level of protection, as well as efficient motor control, and effective and seamless communication between the motor as well as any connected add-on or attached module.

The MM300 motor control device is designed as a compact piece of equipment, with a modular design to provide operators with hardware that is outfitted with several individual components internally. This frees up so much space within the industrial setting, and eliminates the need to purchase any other devices.

The unit listed here however, is not a full MM300 unit, but an additional component labeled the IO_G. It is classified as a 3 RTD module; with three sets of PT RTDs, and grants the MM300 the additional protection functionality an RTD provides. Each RTD is made up of three wire, 100 ohm platinum. Its gauge size is a standard 12 AWG, and has 5 millimeter pitch terminal ports.

It is one of the eight modules that are able to be integrated into the frame of several MM300 units, and is labeled as an expansion module, rather than an ordinary base module. It is able to be fitted into four slots (E, F, G, and H).

AX Control Inc. has the IO_G in stock as both industrial surplus, as well as secondhand, fully optimized hardware. Our staff of on-site technicians are able to provide excellent, efficient reconditioning of all of our used goods.

Frequently Asked Questions about IO_G

What is the IO_G module?

The IO_G module is a 3 RTD module that provides the relay with 100 ohm platinum resistance temperature detectors for General Electric Multilin's MM300 series. These resistance temperature detectors increase the protective capabilities of the relay, as they are able to assess temperature within the system and generate alarm and trip functions when conditions become unstable. RTDs can assess stator temperature, hottest point, ambient temperature, and more. RTD biasing allows the relay to correct non-modeled temperature increases, which occur when ambient temperature is unusually high or in the event that motor cooling is blocked. The RTD biasing corrects this by forcing the Thermal Capacity Used register up to the appropriate value of the hottest stator RTD.

What are the benefits of using an RTD composed of platinum rather than copper or nickel? Are there any disadvantages?

While nickel and copper are typically cheaper than platinum in regards to RTD composition, platinum has a number of practical benefits that make it the best choice for resistance temperature detectors. Platinum RTDs can handle a very wide range of temperatures and offer high malleability, low risk of corrosion, resistance to wear, and high stability. Additionally, the material experiences negligible reactivity to environmental factors.

Reviews For IO_G

Internal Review
(5.0)

The RTD circuitry is capable of compensating for lead resistance, so long as the three leads are all the same length. This features increases the accuracy of data readings and allows users to feel more confident in the thermal modeling performed by their system. - AX Control Tech
