The 745-W3-P5-G5-HI-A is part of GE Multilin’s 745 series and functions as a method of managing and protecting transformer systems large, medium, and small. The 745 is housed in an SR Series case, which protects the relay during routine functions and also deters dust from disturbing the device itself. The transformer management relay boasts a number of LEDs that alert users as issues arise, offering a quick reference point for system health. These LEDs are also accompanied by a 40-character LCD and a keypad. The 745-W3-P5-G5-HI-A has a number of ports that allow for inbound and outbound connections, including an RS422/485 port that can allow for ongoing monitoring of multiple relays. Additionally, the RS232 port located at the front of the device allows users to connect a computer running EnerVista 745 for faster and easier configuration.

The EnerVista 745 software program allows users to set and modify setpoints, read values and statuses of the system, perform waveform capture and digitize data, and receive help on various topics. The program contains a Quick Connect feature to seamlessly link a computer running EnerVista to the 745. EnerVista can also assist in performing event and waveform capture. After collecting data, parameters such as harmonics, currents/voltages, and temperature can be trended and graphed by the program for simple and efficient review. This data can then be exported and analyzed according to a company’s needs. The software program also allows simulation to test the relay’s functionality in response to setpoints without the entire system needing to run.
