About the 469-P5-LO-A20-E

Equipped with an enhanced faceplate, General Electric Multilin’s 469-P5-LO-A20-E is a Motor Protection Relay designed for motors of medium to large size. The relay itself is protected by the DEMO metal carry case, which provides resistance to corrosion, dust, and high temperatures. When shipped, the relay packaging has a width of 12 inches, height of 11 inches, and depth of 10 inches. Furthermore, the package has a weight of approximately seventeen pounds.

This unit extends motor life and reduces system downtime through its protective mechanisms. A few of these protective features include:

  • Overtorque Protection: The 469-P5-LO-A20-E can monitor when torque exceeds the user-set threshold and safeguards the driven load from damage.

  • RTD Protection: The 469’s twelve RTD inputs are highly programmable and can alert users to hazardous ambient temperature changes. Alarm, trip, and high alarm functions can be assigned when values reach a user-set threshold.

  • Ground Fault Protection: The ground current detection feature protects motors against phase to ground faults by removing the DC component from the hazardous current to safeguard equipment.

Amongst other protective features, these abilities reduce system downtime and prolong motor life.

The 469 has a simulation function that allows it to test the effectiveness of the relay and to assess how it works with the current setpoint setup. Values are simulated for inputs; fault conditions and pre-trip conditions can be simulated as well.

Frequently Asked Questions about 469-P5-LO-A20-E

What should the short circuit trip be set to on the GE Motor Management Relay 469-P5-LO-A20-E?
Setting the short circuit trip on the GE 469-P5-LO-A20-E Relay has to be set above the maximum locked rotor current but also below the actual short circuit current for the fuses on the relay. The maximum locked rotor current is 630 percent full load current or 6.3 x full load current. Keep in mind if the locked rotor current is set to 7 x full load current, there will be a time delay that will have tripping and may have asymmetrical starting currents and a direct current off set. If the setting at 7 x the full load current limits the starting capability, then setting the S/C to a higher level to 11 x the full load current (1.7 x 6.3 = 11.7) to over ride the condition.
Can there be a ground fault or error on the GE 469-P5-LO-A20-E Motor Relay?
There is no information to alert for a ground fault setting, so unfortunately a ground fault current is unavailable. The fault current should be assumed at 10 Amps or 10/50 = 0.2 x the current transformer and have no time delays.
What is an unbalanced alarm or trip for a GE Motor Management Relay?
An unbalanced alarm or trip are in the settings that are determinded by the examining of the motor application and design. The unbalanced alarm is set at 10 percent with a 10 second delay that will help with alarm and the trip can be set at 25 percent with a 5 second delay to help with the tripping.

Reviews For 469-P5-LO-A20-E

Internal Review
(4.0)

This version of the 469 series is the low-control power version; users should ensure they do not need a high power module, as control power inputs higher than the recommended range causes system damage. -AX Control Tech Team
