About the 469-P1-HI-A1-E

Equipped with an auto-configuration feature, General Electric Multilin’s 469-P1-HI-A1-E features streamlined installation so that it can begin monitoring, protecting, and controlling medium to large motors even faster. The 469-P1-HI-A1-E offers functions such as overtemperature protection, torque protection, and current unbalance correction to keep motors running smoothly and preserve system life. The 469 also features technology like waveform capture, event reports, and data logging to reduce troubleshooting times. System health reports can even suggest when it is best to do preventative maintenance.

This version of the 469 comes with an enhanced display, which includes an expanded keypad and a considerably wider 40-character LCD. The display can show system metrics when not in active use, scrolling through a list of up to twenty user-set variables. The front of the panel includes over twenty LEDs that provide a quick reference for system processes and health. LEDs can be green, red, or amber depending on how healthy the process is. LED reference points include Relay In Service, Hot RTD, Loss of Load, Overload Pickup, and more.

Some users question how to differentiate between GE Multilin’s 369 series and 469 series. While the two models share many similarities, the 469 has a few features that advantage it over the older series. The Multilin 469 series includes synchronous motor protection, which is not a feature of the 369. The 469 can also be used for large or medium motor systems as where the 369 is only intended for medium-sized motors. Finally, the 469 has close coil supervision and the 369 does not.

Frequently Asked Questions about 469-P1-HI-A1-E

Does the 469 Motor Management Relay series have added options that can be installed after delivery?

Relays such as the 469-P1-HI-A1-E come standard with whatever options are denoted in the part number. Each breakdown in the PN specifies a specific option that is installed by the factory. This particular Motor Management Relay 469-P1-HI-A1-E comes with an enhanced display screen that has a larger LCD than the basic display. Some features are designed for security and hardware has to be installed in the settings with a passcode to protect against unauthorized setup changes. For all the 469 relays are installed in any 469 case, but if a custom designed unit from the manufacturer says that it only fits in the case it comes with and have a keying pin for the mechanism, do not use another case to prevent incorrect pairs. There aren't any ventilations that need to be on the case for the installation of the relay. There is a wire lead seal that can be installed in the slot by the handle and it prevents unauthorized removal of the relay.

Are there some wiring precautions that I need to consider for optimal operation with the 469-P1-HI-A1-E?

Yes, there are some wiring precautions that need attention for the 469-P1-HI-A1-E Motor Management Relay to function properly. The electrical installation can be found in the manual for the GE Motor Management Relay 469-P1-HI-A1-E with the manual part number as 1601-0122-A9. The important wiring considerations can be found on pages 3 through 11 in the operation manual for the 469-P1-HI-A1-E. There is a terminal layout that explains grounding, communications, and inputs and outputs, this layout can be found on page 9 in the manual online as a PDF. Also, a terminal list is in the manual that can help with setup of the wiring on this unit for proper operation. Order code is very important for the terminal label, it is on the side of the layout that specifies nominal controls and voltage. Make sure the control voltage that is applied on the layout matches the rated voltage for the case terminal on this relay. All this information and more can be found in the manual online.

Does the 469-P1-HI-A1-E need software purchased separately?

When purchased new from the factory each relay comes with EnerVista 469 setup software as a complimentary accessory. This software allows the user to enable and disable access to the programming function of the relay. When the Motor Management Relay is purchased from the factory as a new unit, it should come with an instruction manual, the GE EnerVista CD, and mounting screws, but that is only if the relay is factory new. If the Motor Management Relay does not come with the GE EnerVista CD, the software can be found on the GE Multilin website for the software revision of 5.1x and setup. The software helps enable and disable access settings for programming the relay's passcodes and incorporates a facility. To modify the settings, the entry may be restricted and you will have to enter the correct password to change any of the settings of this relay. There is a demo that can be ordered for testing and demonstration only.
