Product Description

Model number 139-120V is one of the many models in the 139 Series of Motor Protection Relays that can be either vertically or horizontally mounted. All of the circuitry associated with this model is housed in a plastic case, the plastic case is a see-through high-impact dustproof cover that allows the user to view the control settings and various indicators easily. Along with the controls on the front panel of this model, there are switches located inside the relay. The switches inside the relay guarantee that the program can be adjusted to whatever requirements the user needs.

An extra set of contacts, labeled as auxiliary relay contacts, are available on the 139-120V relay which can operate independently of the main relay contacts on this model. The auxiliary relays will operate on the same ratings as the standard relay contacts. The aforementioned internal switches are the switches that will be used to program the conditions which will activate the auxiliary relays. The typical program conditions for this relay are RTD overtemperature, undercurrent, immediate overload warning, and a ground fault alarm.

Fourteen indicators make up the front panel of this relay. Each indicator has a different name and function. For example, indicator number ten is a ground fault light and will indicate when the earth leakage a.k.a ground fault surpasses the internally preset value of fifty percent. When the ground fault is being used with the 139-120V relay a separate current transformer is required to encircle the motor conductors when providing the sensing signals for this relay.

Frequently Asked Questions about 139-120V

What is the power supply of the 139-120V Multilin motor protection relay?
The control power of the 139-120V is 120V AC at 50 to 60 HZ. Occasionally for some 139 Multilin relays the control power is 240 VAC. If the control power is in question, the user can look at terminals 15 and 16, which will be marked with the set supply voltage of the relay. The relay should receive the control power before it has been energized. It is recommended that the 139-120V continue to receive power even after the motor has been shut down. As an additional option for the 139 motor protection relays may obtain an optional 80 to 150 V DC power supply.
How many CTs are required for the 139-120V Multilin motor protection relay?
In order to create a current input that is proportional to the motor's phase current the relay necessitates a single CT for each motor phase. Thus since there are three motor phases, there are three phase CTs found in a 139-120V Multilin motor protection relay.
How many amp CTs are being used by the 139 Multilin relay?
When ordering, either 5 amp CTs or 1 amp CTs is specified as being used. The 139-120V Multilin relay will work with any CT ratio however since the max load control is selected as a portion of the CT value.

One key feature of using this relay is that it can monitor a variety of different system parameters. It is also capable of self-assessment, and users can perform their own tests to assess system health; there are specific functions required for testing the ground fault, undercurrent, and many more which can be found in the 139 Series Motor Protection Relay user manual. - AX Control Tech
