Product Description

The IC800VMMCONE002 is a VersaMotion Motor Encoder Connector (MEC). It was mass-produced by FANUC and GE FANUC Automation. It connects to 1-3KW models. 

The IC800VMMCONE002 was designed for VersaMotion servo motors and applications. The IC800VMMCONE002 is just the plugs and not the encoder cable. This kit provides the connector to the CN2 port on the Servo Drive (drive I/O) and the plug that goes directly onto the servo motor. These plugs can be paired with standard cables (not provided) that are 3-20 meters long (although other lengths are available). The encoder cable should use a twisted-shield signal with a grounding conductor. Make sure the Encoder Connector is firmly attached to the Encoder Cable before using it.

The CN2 encoder connector provides power to the servo encoder. The servo encoder’s main function is to use sensors to find the rotor’s location after power is applied to the drive. Once the rotor location is found, the encoder will start to be used as a communication controller. To prevent unwanted signal noise or excess wear and tear on the encoder cable, it should be placed in a separate conduit than the power cables for the motor.

GE Fanuc Automation User’s Manual, GFK-2480A VersaMotion Servo Motors and Amplifiers, should be read carefully before connecting any devices or performing start-up activities.
