Product Description
The GE Field Exciter Board DS2020FECNRX001A features 7 jumpers and 2 terminal blocks with 3 terminals on each. The jumpers are identified as JP1 through JP7. The GE Line Protection Board DS2020FECNRX001A also contains multiple prong-type connectors. The board is installed on standoffs on another component of the drive. The signal wires that connect to the board originate on the component to which it is attached.
The board is populated with four capacitors and they require some consideration before you handle the board due to the risk of electric shock from the high-voltage stored in the capacitors. During normal processing, the board is exposed to high-voltage and the capacitors store the voltage. When instructed to do so, the capacitors release the current to other components on the board. Most components do not store voltage and when the voltage is removed from the board, the components are also free of voltage. However, capacitors store voltage and so are a danger to individuals who touch the board when power is removed.
The capacitors only store the voltage for 30 seconds, after which the voltage exits the capacitors and they become safe to touch. For that reason, wait 30 seconds after power is removed from the drive before you touch the board.
The 2 fuses on the board protect the board from damage if the board receives too much current. The fuses are rated to blow if a specific threshold is exceeded. For that reason, if you replace the fuses, only install fuses with the same rating. If you install fuses with a different rating the fuses might allow current to damage the board. Or, the fuses might blow too often.
