Product Description
The GE I/O TC2000 Analog Board DS200TCCBG2A features one 80196 microprocessor and multiple PROM modules. It also contains one LED and 2 50-pin connectors. The LED is visible from the side view of the board. The IDs for the 50-pin connectors are JCC and JDD. The PROM modules store the firmware for the microprocessor and also the programming instructions. Firmware updates can be downloaded from the web to a laptop and then downloaded to the board for storage on the PROM. All processing on the board is performed by the microprocessor.
The PROM is highly sensitive to damage from static so if the need arises to remove the PROM module you must wear a wrist strap or other device that drains the static from your body to a grounded surface. The wrist strap is connected on one end to your arm or wrist. The other end must make contact with a bare metal surface. This could be a leg of a workbench or a metal chair. Some wrist straps feature a clip that attaches to a metal surface. Others have a plug that you insert into a connector on a metal workbench. This type of connection is more secure and is less likely to come loose. If the connection is not made at both ends of the wrist strap, the PROM module will not be protected from static buildup.
When you replace a board you can use a tool to remove the PROM module from the socket on the defective board. Then, use the same tool to install it in the replacement board.
