Product Description

The GE Power Excitation Board DS3800NEPB1F1E can only operate when installed in a power control module. The board must be connected to a motor excitation board.  By itself, the DS3800NEPB1F1E board is not functional. The motor excitation board is a daughter card and it provides the circuitry that enables the boards to work together. The daughter card contains the phase control firing circuit, the field current regulator, and other circuits.

The two boards are connected through the connectors JJ and JK on the DS3800NEPB1F1E board,. The connection is made through a ribbon cable that connects to both connectors. The connectors are keyed so that the installer can only make the connection by matching the connectors in the proper alignment. The ribbon cable is made up of several small wires connected together and the wires share one connector. The small wires are easy to break so care must be taken when you handle the ribbon cable. Always hold the ribbon cable by the connector and not by the small wires. Align the connector with the matching connectors on the board and press the two together.

The power conversion module is designed to support the installation of the two connected boards.

Before you install the boards, you’ll receive the boards in separate shipping cartons. The first step when you are ready to install the boards is to find the printed information on the outside of the boxes and make sure the model numbers match what you ordered.
