The GE Panel Interface Board DS3800HPLA1F1D is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features 1 hole in each corner. The board can be secured with screws. The board is populated with 1 40-pin connector embedded on the board.The GE Panel Interface Board DS3800HPLA1F1D daughter card also is populated with 3 red indicator LEDs. The board is also populated with 2 sockets for electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules, 7 jumpers, and 2 trimmer resistors.

The GE Panel Interface Board DS3800HPLA1F1D can be replaced, if the original board is found to be defective. If a ribbon cable is attached to the 20-pin connector, remove it and move the ribbon cable out of the way.  The board is secured to the drive with 4 screws. 1 screw is inserted in each corner through a hole in the board. To remove the board, use 2 hands to remove the screws. Guide the screwdriver to the first corner. The use of 2 hands helps the servicer avoid scratching the surface of any boards or components. Turn the screwdriver with 1 hand and hold the screw with the other hand. Make sure the screw does not fall into the drive.

Care must be taken because the board is outfitted with a daughter card. The daughter card is attached to the board and it increases the size and weight of the board. Make sure the board does not scrape the sides of the drive or other components when you remove it.
