The GE Parallel Line Buffer Board DS3800HPBC is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Parallel Line Buffer Board DS3800HPBC also is populated with 1 red indicator LED and 2 amber LEDs which are visible from the front of the board. The board also is populated with 3 jumpers, and multiple capacitors.
Another component on the board is a transistor to transistor logic (TTL) device. It serves as the interface logic between integrated circuits. The drive operator verifies that the drive is fully operational and monitors the operation of the drive. The operator also is responsible for multiple drives and other equipment. One other function is to verify that the boards in the drive are healthy and maintain the board function. One methods of doing that is to watch the LEDs on the boards. The LEDs are visible on the board as the board is operating.
When the red LED is lit, it indicates that an error has occurred and that the board function has stopped. When the red LED is on, power off the drive first and perform a board reset. The board receives and transmits signal that can at time loose the proper sequence. A reset can help resolve the issue. Lift up the board from the handles and remove the board from the connector at the rear of the board. Then, insert the board again in the modular connector and use the retention levers to lock it in place.
