The GE Fish II Expander Board DS3800HFXB is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The board is populated with 1 40-pin connector and 1 34-pin connector between the retention levers. The board also has 1 20-pin connector embedded on the board.The GE Fish II Expander Board DS3800HFXB also is populated with 1 amber indicator LED. The board is also populated with 2 sockets for electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 11 jumpers.

The 20-pin connector embedded on the GE Fish II Expander Board DS3800HFXB is used to connect the board to a daughter card. The daughter card is attached to standoffs. The standoffs secure the daughter card to the board and keep it from coming in contact with the surface of the board. This protects the board and the daughter card from damage and scratches. The daughter card is an optional feature. It provides added functionality to the board that enhances the capabilities of the board.

The 20-pin connector is attached to a ribbon cable attached to the daughter card. The 7-inch ribbon cable is terminated with a 20-pin connector. It plugs into the connector on the board. To install the daughter card, first align the holes of the daughter card with the standoffs and press the daughter card over the board. Then, plug the ribbon cable into the connector.

Because of the additional size and weight that the daughter card adds, use care when you insert it into the board rack. Do not allow the board to brush against the sides of the board rack.
