Product Description

The GE Drive Control Board DS3800HFPG1D1D features a modular connector for attachment to a drive and retention levers to hold the board in the drive. The GE Drive Control Board DS3800HFPG1D1D also is populated with a microprocessor and multiple erasable programmable read-only (EPROM) modules. The board has 1 34-pin connector that is accessible from the front of the board. It also is populated with test points and 1 40-pin connector on the surface of the board.   

Another component on the board is a transistor to transistor logic (TTL) device. It serves as the interface logic between integrated circuits.

The microprocessor on the GE Drive Control Board DS3800HFPG1D1D  generates heat while the board is processing. And if the heat is allowed to build up in the interior of the drive, it can damage components or cause the components to have a shortened life span.  There are steps that the installer can take to keep the heat from the microprocessor from building up.

Route all cables away from the air vents on the drive. The air vents must allow for the free movement of air. The drive has air vents on the bottom that enable cool air to enter the drive. The drive has air vents at the top that exhaust the hot air. Install the drive in a location with a supply of cool air. Also install the drive on a wall that is cool to the touch and not heated by equipment on the other side.

If the heat builds up, it can trigger an overheat trip condition. This causes the drive to automatically shutdown and end all processing.
