The GE Gas Turbine Daughter Board DS3800HCMC1A1A features a modular connector for attachment to a drive and retention levers to hold the board in the drive. The GE Gas Turbine Daughter Board DS3800HCMC1A1A also is populated with 14 jumpers, and 1 amber and 2 red indicator LEDs. The board also has 2 34-pin connectors, and multiple capacitors and resistors.

The GE Gas Turbine Daughter Board DS3800HCMC1A1A works together with another board in the drive to provide it with additional functionality and processing capabilities.  The board is populated with erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules. The memory modules store the instructions the board uses for processing. When you plan to replace the board, the replacement board comes without the EPROM modules because it is standard to remove the modules from the defective board and place them in the replacement board. The replacement board comes with the unpopulated EPROM sockets and it is easy to remove the modules from the old board and install them in the replacement. The defective board must be removed from the drive and placed on a clean and dry surface that is protected from static build up. This might include placing a static protective bag under the old board. Also the technician must wear a wrist strap while performing the operation.

Remove the replacement board from the shipping carton and use a sharp instrument to open the bag. Hold the board by the edges and remove it from the bag and place it next to the defective board. On one end of the module, insert a screwdriver and rock it back and forth to remove the module.
