About the IC3600TPSE1B
Product Series Critical Details
The IC3600TPSE1B is a PCB component manufactured for the first two Speedtronic gas or steam management systems released by GE. The Mark I (1969) and the Mark II (1973) were designed by GE to improve the efficiency of their heavy-duty turbines regardless of the complexity or size of the system.
To that end, General Electric focused on a design that would be scalable and adaptable, and so both systems are able to manage a single 4000 hp setup to an entire multi-turbine power station (up to 400 Mw combined cycle) and all types of systems in between. While GE no longer supports either the Mark I or the Mark II and considers both obsolete, both systems continue to be used in many locations around the world.
Hardware Tips and Specifications
The IC3600TPSE1B is built with ceramic diodes, carbon composite resistors, and aluminum electrolytic and ceramic capacitors. Many of these components have been mounted in a vertical fashion. The board is populated with five transistors of two different designs, including two Motorola bipolar 2N3738 transistors. These have been attached to the board using screw mounts.
The two largest components on the IC3600TPSE1B are:
- a round transformer that is placed in the center of the board
- attached to the board using a screw mount
- electrically connect to the board by surface wiring that extends from all sides of the round component
- an inductor coil
- protected on all sides by a gray housing
The IC3600TPSE1B is marked with the codes 68A999196G1 and PDA. Numbering appears along one edge. This edge supports a communication device, which appears in the form of a parallel line of metal pins. The opposite edge connects to a gray colored front panel. This panel has no components and is blank.
