The 331X232ACG is a D-C Adjustable Speed Drive manufactured by GE for the Speed Variator drive system or compatible drives like the SCR drive. Both systems are adjustable speed, closed-loop systems that run off DC motors. These systems may be used for general purpose use, but are often used for machine tool control.
The 331X232ACG is the D/C power adjustable speed drive to run the system. The drive has a power input listed (AC) of 575 Volts, 22.4 amps, 60 Hz. This is a three-phase system. The drive’s output is (DC) 15-60 HP, 240 Volts, 55 amps. More information about the drive system can be found in GE publication GEK-82271. Data sheets for this drive include drawing specs. These data sheets are numbered 36B599355 and 36B599356.
The 331X232ACG has a silver colored housing with several openings to release heat. The front panel is split into two separate doors. Both doors are hinged to allow operators to access the interior of the drive. The larger, lower door of the drive also has a smaller locking panel that can be opened without opening the primary door. The openings are also located to allow for access to interior components that may need to be adjusted more frequently. The interior of the drive includes several fuses as well as many wire connections. If the drive begins to experience intermittent failures, wires should be checked to make sure good connection is being made. Heat sinks are also located on the interior of the machine to aid with proper operation.
