The LINK connection is a fibre optic network for a fast connection and long cable lengths. The Eurotherm 620L 0180 400 0010 UK ENW 0000 000 B0 000 000 has two sets of ports for fibre optic connections. Each set has one receiver terminal and one transmit terminal. One set is for a ring network design. One set is for redundancy or tapped ring network design. You can repeaters to the network for even longer cable lengths. One big advantage is that the fibre optic networks are immune to interference. So, even in a manufacturing environment, the cables can be near high voltage or control signal cabling.
When you install the fibre optic cable, be careful to not exceed the bend radius or otherwise damage the cables. If you use only one set of ports, seal off the other set with a fiber optic connector without a cable attached to it. The device ships with a fibre optic connector for this purpose.
