The Eurotherm 590 lineup of products ranges between a series of similar units that operate as DC (Direct Current) Motor Controllers. These controllers are equipped with numerous similar features—so many that many specifications of the Eurotherm 590 models could be regarded as being interchangeable pieces of industrial equipment.
This unit, listed here, is the 590C-2700-5-3, though it is also given the designation of 590C/2700/5/3. This Motor Controller comes with the standard internal 16 bit microprocessor, which allows for the complex algorithms to run the control processes. The circuitry for the controller is regulated with the configurable software that is available.
The 590C/2700/5/3 model also includes the ability to communicate with other drives and PCs to create an advanced process system. The connection is maintained via a serial link communication over the fiber optic network.
The 590C/2700/5/3 model also includes a series of regenerating converter units. There are three of them, each of them a Phase 4 Quadrant module. Each of these are equipped with a pair of thyristors, to aid in the transient and overload protection capabilities to keep the 590C/2700/5/3 safe while operational. These converters work together with the control circuitry.
The 590C/2700/5/3 model externally is integrated with a total of 8 analog Input and Output ports (4 configurable Inputs, 1 designated, and 2 configurable Outputs, 1 designated) There are also a set of 13 digital Input and Output ports. 5 of the Inputs are configurable, and 2 are also optional encoder inputs for a second/line encoder. All of the 3 Outputs are configurable.
