The Eurotherm 590 line as a whole are devices that are made of three components: a direct current contractor, a series of alternating current supply fuses, and a 590 direct current link drive. The other notable internal features for the 590C/0700/6/3 include a set of hardware necessary for the module to run optimally. There is a 16 bit microprocessor, and the ability to communicate via fiber optic connections. For the direct current contractor, the Eurotherm series has four different speed configurations for the unit to operate at.
The Eurotherm 590 series operates with a power source ranging, overall, from 110 to 660 volts of alternating current. The 590C/0700/6/3 unit in particular operates with a nominal input of at least 415 volts of AC, due to the 3 Phase AC primary power supply that the unit has. For backup sources of power, the unit also includes an auxiliary power supply, which supplies up to 220 Volts of AC.
