One of the more advanced in the Cognex In-Sight Micro 8000 industrial camera lineup, the IA8405 models have only a monochromatic display set. It holds 512 megabytes of non-volatile flash memory, as well as 512 megabytes of SDRAM.

Outfitted with a CMOS rolling shutter and a 1 by 2.5 inch sensor, the IS8405M-363-10 has an acquisition rating of 13 frames per second, an image resolution of 2593 x 1944 pixels. Its built in IO gives it 1 dedicated trigger in, and 2 high speed outputs. To adhere the camera to a wall or support beam, a C mount is used. 2 LED lights, configurable by the user, are attached, and this unit also comes with a barcode scanner and reader (for both 1-D and 2-D barcodes), and programmed with basic OCR and OCV capabilities and pattern recognition and edge, curve, blob, and line inspecting software.

This essential software in the IS8402M-373-50 allows for geometry, histogram design, string parsing, edge, line, curve, and blob inspection for products. Both standard and non-linear calibrations are possible via the installed caliper assessment.

While the rest of the In-Sight Micro 8000 line has dimensions of 31mm by 31.2mm by 75.1mm (or 1.22 in by 1.23 in by 2.95 in) and a weight of 132.2 grams (4.66 ounces), without the accessory mounting block, the standard dimensions of the In-Sight 8405 models are even more compact, and weigh even less, at 31 mm x 31.2 x 71.6 mm (1.22 in x 1.23 in x 2.82 in) and weighing 78 g (2.75 oz.) With the mounting block accessory, the model’s dimensions are raised to 39 mm x 31.2 mm x 71.6 (1.54 in x 1.23 in x 2.82 in) and weighing 109 g (3.84 oz).

Embedded into the base are 4 M3 threaded mounting holes. In-Sight 8405 models require the In-Sight Explorer 5.1.0 firmware, unlike the rest of the series.
