The In-Sight 8402 models monitor and manage warehouse or assembly line production. The units in this line of the In-Sight Micro 8000 products are all durable, productive, hardy pieces of monitoring machinery.

These Cognex cameras have an IO interface of 1 entry, 2 outgoing units, capable of high speed, high quality data transfer, barcode verification and comprehension, and Optical Character Recognition and Optical Character Verification (OCR/OCV) processors. The monitor units come included with PatMax and (on the IS8402M-373-50,) PatMax RedLine. These models are able to achieve numerous functions, such as filtering and monitoring through product, geometry, developing histograms to measure possible flaws, string formatting and parsing, a caliper assessment program.

The IS8402M-363-50 and IS8402M-373-50 models record in a monochrome video, capturing data with their 1 inch by 1 ⅘ inch global shutter sensors in 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution at 53 frames per seconds. The IS8402C-363-50 model, however, captures moving images in full color image. All Cognex products in this line include 4 M3 threaded entry mounts (M6 mounting holes available on accessory mount).

All products in this line are built with a zinc frame, with standard Cognex dimensions and weight, which changes due to the C mount accessory mounting block. Appearance-wise, there are no different options than the available black and yellow finish.

The In-Sight 8402 physical product measurements are 31mm by 31.2 mm by 75.1 mm (or 1.22 in by 1.23 in by 2.96 in), and as heavy as 132.2 grams (4.66 ounces). Measurement and weight change with the addition of the accessory mounting unit.
