IS5610-00 is a fixed mount ID reader manufactured by Cognex for their Insight 5000 series. This model offers users a high speed option for code and text reading. Derived from their PatMax software, this device features Cognex’s proprietary code-reading software, IDMax. The IDMax software allows this system to verify and read both text and 1-D and 2-D barcodes. Text reading is possible using advanced system integrated OCR/OCV tools. Image captures occur at a rate of 60 frames per second in real time when combined with the device’s 20 times speed rating. Codes can be read at a rate of over 7200 ppm.
All images captured with IS5610-00 are processed using the available 256 MB of image memory. This processing renders the images into a 640 x 480 pixel resolution. An additional flash memory cache of 128 MB is available to store jobs and programs. The Cognex tool library is built into the device and runs using the integrated 1 GHz processor. This processor run the library at lightening fast speeds, allowing it to keep up with high speed lines. A number of identification tools are found in this library, including text verification, 1 and 2 dimensional barcode reading, and image filters. An Ethernet and a 10/100/1000 BaseT protocol serve as the two networking ports on the device. Additional interfacing is possible using an accepted serial I/O module with a RS232C connection.
Certain storage and installation parameters must be met to ensure that the device does not incur any preventable damages. While IS5610-00 is operating on a production line, ambient temperatures should be monitored to maintain safe levels. Operating temperatures can range as low as 0℃ (32℉) and as high as 45℃ (113℉). Storage conditions can also damage the device if not stored properly. These temperatures allow for more variation, with acceptable ranges falling between -30℃ and 80℃ (-22℉ and 176℉).
